Many people are under the misconception that if they are thin they are fit. There are many thin people who have high cholesterol, high blood pressure and are really, not as fit as they think they are. There are some things that you should consider if you want to know just how fit you really are.

Shopping for new work-out clothes will boost your confidence and encourage you to meet your fitness goals. Even one new article of clothing gives you something to fashion for your friends and maybe encourage a new trip to the gym.

One way to maximize your fitness routine is to change the order in which you count. Doing so will result in positive thinking, and push you to do better. It will be almost a “downhill” effect for your brain. Pushing yourself is all about positive thinking and tricking your brain to work for you.

To stay fit, forget the phrase, “No pain, no gain!” This phrase is absolutely untrue! If you do a workout that causes you to suffer, you will be highly unlikely to continue to do it consistently. Instead of choosing exercise routines and forms of exercise that cause you distress, choose activities that you enjoy and want to do. Consistency is far more important in pursuing, attaining, and maintaining fitness than intensity.

A goal is a great thing to have in a fitness scheme. Remember that achieving a goal is, above all, an opportunity to set a new goal. Fitness is, overall, a goal for life, not for a brief time. After climbing to a peak that has been focused on, selecting the next, higher peak to tackle will keep a regimen aimed towards life-long fitness.

When beginning a fitness routine start out slowly. If you try to start out at a high intensity, chances are you’ll burn out quickly and stop exercising all together. It’s also possible you could get hurt by doing something your body isn’t ready for and then it will be impossible to exercise.

If you are using weights, begin with smaller weights first. The smaller muscles in your body tire more quickly than the larger ones. Therefore it is smart to start with small machines or barbells before moving on to the larger machines. In this way, your smaller muscles can get a break while you are working out your larger muscles.

Be accountable for the exercise you do. Try joining a gym just because spending the money makes you more likely to be there and using those resources. If you can’t join a gym, pair up with a friend or two so that you can support each other. Being accountable to someone or something makes you more likely to stick with your workouts.

The information that has been provided above should have given you an idea for just how fit you really are. If you are not as fit as you would like to be, it is important for you to start making changes now while you can still fix your overall fitness.
